Oregon: The Place I Found Home

My story begins in a working-class family in Buffalo, New York, where my parents built better lives through grit and sacrifice. Growing up Gay, I wrestled with questions of belonging, identity, and purpose. For years, I felt the weight of exclusion and hardship. But I also carried with me a belief in collective action and the power of community. When I arrived in Oregon with little more than determination, I found the chance to rebuild my life. Teaching, coaching, and community organizing gave me purpose, and Oregon became the place where I finally felt I belonged.

Stepping Up When It Matters Most

Oregon is at a crossroads. Families are being priced out, schools lack the funding they need, and climate change threatens our communities. I decided to run because waiting for someone else to act is no longer an option. Leadership means stepping forward when it’s hard, when it matters most. I’ve fought for students and educators, and now I want to fight for all of District 38. I believe in an Oregon where opportunity is real, communities are safe, and democracy works for everyone, not just the powerful. That vision is why I’m running, and why I won’t back down.

Leadership Rooted in Experience

My work has always been about building community. As a teacher, I guide students through the classroom challenges that shape who they will become. As a coach, I help them discover the value of teamwork, resilience, and believing in themselves. Guiding young people, seeing them gain confidence, and helping them achieve more than they thought possible has been one of the greatest joys of my life. But I also saw firsthand how schools struggle with underfunding, large class sizes, and a lack of resources. That’s what led me to become active in my teachers’ union, where I could advocate for change.  I’ve stood up for teachers and students, pushing for fair resources and stronger funding in our state's capital. At the same time, I joined community efforts like the Lake Oswego Schools Foundation and LO for Love, building partnerships to support equity, safety, and opportunity for all.  My career hasn’t been about politics; it’s been about people. And those experiences taught me that when we work together, we can create lasting change for our schools and communities.
